VIAIR compressors with the model designation "C" are intended for filling pressurized tanks. They are not equipped with an on/off switch or any built-in pressure switch. The use of a pressure switch and an electrical relay is recommended and required. All "C" compressors (except for the 90 and 100 series) come with a braided hose and a check valve to prevent current spikes that could damage the compressor. Most VIAIR compressors are equipped with a thermal fuse that temporarily shuts down the compressor if it overheats. Once cooled, the compressor automatically resumes operation.
Warning: Always operate the compressor at pressures equal to or below the maximum operating pressure of the compressor. Exceeding the maximum working pressure or duty cycle may result in damage to the compressor.
The VIAIR 485C is a next-generation compressor from the American manufacturer VIAIR, featuring a 100% duty cycle at 200 PSI with a maximum fill pressure of 200 PSI (13.79 bar), horizontal cooling fins, and a redesigned compressor head. The compressor comes with a braided supply hose with a 3/8" NPT fitting and a 3/8" NPT check valve. The newly designed compressor head and redesigned mounting result in an increased duty cycle while reducing noise levels.
Note: For proper installation, use an appropriate thread sealant. Teflon tape is not recommended. The recommended tightening torque is 16 to 20 Nm.
Note: The mounting base dimensions of the 485C compressor are the same as those of the 480C or 444C compressors.
